A retired firefighter, shot an elementary school teacher back in May 2010, after being involved in a confrontation at a neighbor’s house because of them playing loud music. A video of the incident has been released.
Raul Rodriguez, has been recorded on a 911 call to a dispatcher, while recording the whole incident on his own video camera, approaching a fellow neighbor’s house because of them playing loud music. He approaches the neighbors, where a couple of men are talking to him and Raul claims on video, to be feeling threatened and that he would have to defend himself when one of the individuals at the house claims he will go inside and be equal with Raul Rodriguez. The reason for this response from the individual was because Raul Rodriguez carried a loaded gun, over to the neighbors while he is confronting them. You can see an individual with his hands up, showing Raul that he is unarmed.
All throughout the video, it is clear Raul isn’t in danger and that he was instigating the situation as he could have removed himself after he realized the party-goers were not going to reduce the volume of the music. He could have left this situation to the police officers but took matters into his own hand. After hearing one of the party-goers laugh, a shot is heard and this is when an elementary school teacher was shot and killed.

Commentary
It is very unfortunate that an elementary school teacher, who was throwing a party for his wife, life had to be cut short because of the hastiness and seemingly arrogant behavior by Raul. Raul believes that this video will show that he shot Mr. Danaher out of self-defense because he felt threatened. He thinks that he’s mentioning over and over, that he is feeling threatened and that he would have to defend himself, that the video is sufficient evidence to get him off.
I am going to keep following this situation because it’s very interesting to find out the outcome of this situation.
